Building more of the homes Crewe needs - without building on more land
Watkin Jones has brought forward two planning applications at Acorn Meadows – one to update the approved housing mix by replacing four-bedroom homes with more attainable two- and three-bedroom properties, and another to deliver 24 additional homes within the existing site boundary.
At the recent Southern Planning Committee meeting, consent was granted for one of the applications, while the application to update the housing mix (replacing 32 four-bedroom homes with 32 two- and three-bedroom homes) was deferred.
Both applications are required to be approved in order to deliver the homes as proposed.
If approved in full, the scheme will provide more attainable homes for first-time buyers, growing families, and older people looking to downsize – all without extending the site boundary, building on additional greenfield land, or reducing the level of open space at Acorn Meadows.
What this scheme will deliver:
More of the right homes for local people
Meeting demand for smaller, more suitable homes that help people stay in the area.
Smarter use of an already approved site
Delivering more homes on land already consented for development - no extra land used.
Helping tackle the housing crisis
More homes in Crewe where they’re needed most, supporting local people of all ages.
More attainable homes for local buyers
Homes that better match what local residents are looking for - helping people take their next step on the housing ladder.
About the planning applications
25/0835N – Variation of Condition 1 of previous permission 21/1098N to update the housing mix (replacing 32 four-bedroom homes with 32 two- and three-bedroom homes)
